Hello Dorothy,

Thank you so much for all your help with my renewal and I gained so much from the seminar.

I can’t over estimate this and there is absolutely no comparison with the previous seminars that I have been on. The extremely professional approach to the seminar and training after 30 years and 20,000 hours is the best I have experienced. Enough said!

It has been an absolute pleasure to meet you and an honoured privilege to fly with you.

The Instructional books are first class and the briefings on Power Point are the icing on the cake for me as you have noticed my board presentation skills are not the best!

If there is ever anything that I can do for you then please don’t hesitate to ask.

Best regards also to Bob and Mike not forgetting Dee.

Hello All.

Just a short email to say' Thank You' for the last weeks Seminar. It was a very well-produced and the setting was excellent. I have attended many Seminars all over the UK and this one was the most pleasurable. Additionally, I was able to take away from it 'some food for thought' and I will endeavour to encompass that knowledge as an FE/FI.

I hope once returned to flying to have an 'Officers’ Week- End Away at Shoreham and will pop in to say hello.

Finest Regards

Hi,

Just a quick note to say thanks to all of the team for what was a truly outstanding course.

I particularly enjoyed the way in which what could be seen as potentially somewhat dry topics , were made both interesting and stimulating.

The incredible depth of experience and knowledge but also the excellent skills of the team truly shone through.

I would like to say that I enjoyed every aspect and would have no hesitation in recommending the school and team to any potential clients.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Just wanted to say thank you for last week’s seminar. I really enjoyed the whole day and also learnt a great deal.

So much has changed in recent years and it was great to be able to clear up lots of questions that I had.

I feel a lot more confident now in my ability to continue examining. Also enjoyed the relaxed friendly nature of the day. The lunch and refreshments were an unexpected pleasure and any day with jam donuts has got to be good!

Hope to meet you again someday.

I have been away from instructing for last 17 years, this is my first flying instructor seminar, I am happy I came here, not just for the legal part, but in order to get me back on track and it did. Thank you.

Having had the painful experience of a couple of these seminars with other organisations, it has been a pleasure to experience these past couple of days. I have learned loads and been stimulated. Congratulations on an excellent course. I will be back.

This is the fourth seminar I have been to. This is the first time with Dorothy and I found it more personal and fun. It was a good group, just the right size so everyone could participate.”

Belated thanks for (1) information on the ICAO language proficiency requirement, (2) the excellence of all aspects of the FE seminar, and (3) the generous and useful Pooleys gifts given to all participants.

It was a real pleasure to be there and your first-class presentations reminded me of the areas of aviation examination and training that we occasionally overlook and that we need to keep abreast of.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the instructor seminar I attended 30&31/7/14. Not only was it educational, interesting and relevant, it was done very professionally without being overbearing.

The smallish group we had made the whole experience more personal. The speakers and regular staff were all excellent, backed by the wonderful Kathy of course!

Thanks once again, see you next time.

I just wanted to let you and the team know that I was very impressed with the service given before the course started and the flexibility shown for my situation.

The course was a joy to attend and the small number of student made for a very relaxed environment.

Hi Dorothy & Kathy, This is just to thank you both, plus Mike, Rod, Martin and Irv.

I think the course was excellent, with a good choice of subjects presented well
I liked that the "dry" subjects were covered early each day, so that there was no risk of nodding off.

The training room was fit for purpose and gave us a good view of The Orient Express too. Everything was professionally prepared and presented, the quality of hand-outs was excellent, no fading photocopies. Spelling and punctuation was spot on, it's a thing that bugs me if incorrect.

I will tell everyone how good it has been, this was my first seminar, as I've previously renewed by test, so only have third-party accounts of how badly run other organisations are.

Hi Dorothy / Kathy / Mike
This is just a quick note to say a big Thank You for my recent Instructor Seminar.

The course was excellent, and I came away knowing a great deal more than when I went in. In my case, of course, after a break of 37 years since last instructing, I accept that wasn't too difficult. Nevertheless, it is difficult to take a group of potential "know it alls" and run a course that both achieves the legal objectives but also is interesting and useful. You did achieve that - and made it quite fun too.

I am so pleased that I chose your company for my seminar requirements and was not put off by the fact that it costs slightly more than other available providers. (thanks Dorothy for making the decision easy when I called about the cost).

I know I would have hated being a part of a large group - it simply is not me - and your method of 'small is beautiful' worked exceptionally well. The overall consensus amongst us was that it was the right size to make it a serious learning tool. Small numbers also makes it easier for people to actively participate in discussions as clearly they felt less daunted than they would have done with a large group.

The subject matter of the speakers was a good balance, I thought. A little for everyone. I particularly liked the use of the Accident Reports within the group exercises. Very useful.

The group was well catered for - lunch being very welcome (and unexpected in my case). The tea and coffee breaks were very welcome and, although I do not eat cakes and Danish pastries, it was very clear that I was in the minority as they were all consumed each day!

I was also pleased to make some new aviation friends amongst the other attendees.

Thanks again

Regards

John Willis

The seminar was very good. The number of instructors (8) together with the facilitative style of presentation meant that we were all fully engaged. The course content was relevant, interesting and practical. We all learnt and took some ideas away. I've attended 3 seminars before this one - this was by far the best.

Thank you very much for the very informative and interesting seminar earlier in the week. It could be easy for a FI seminar to slip into a tick box mentality with 40 FIs there just to get the licence stamped.

Your approach of smaller groups and more class based group exercises avoids this and really helps the candidates to engage with the content.

Also the enthusiasm of both you and your speakers were really excellent.

I particularly benefited from the EASA updates (I know who I will be emailing in future for law questions!)

As an airline pilot it’s great to see the TEM coming into instructing to, I will certainly be passing that on to my students.

Finally, I was very well fed over the two days, so THANK YOU for that!!

I am returning to instructing after a career in the airlines and a 10 year break from aviation. My previous experience of a seminar with another company left me expecting a boredom session, and I must admit to not really starting the course with the right attitude. However, this was soon dispelled. The smaller class size helped, but the fact that you could start with a boring yet controversial subject such as EASA implementation, and make a good and interesting presentation of it, showed that you could make the whole seminar interesting, which you did. I found the subjects covered not only useful but also relevant to the FI work we were planning on doing.

I am also extremely grateful for the guidance on, and proposition to, the Guild of Air pilots and Air Navigators. Something that I had been thinking about anyway, but you just helped to tip the balance on my decision. Enjoy being Master!

I could continue to wax lyrical, but basically well done. A good seminar well presented, and I certainly will come back.

Dorothy was my CPL instructor a few years ago, so deciding where to do my instructor rating was a relatively easy choice. I already knew the standard of training I would receive and that it would certainly be good value for money. The other great aspect taken into consideration was the brand; pooleys flying instructor school is ell recognised at National and International level. To give you an example I was offered my first job after only 1 week into the course with several other offers following shortly after completing the training!

I have no hesitation recommending Pooleys Flying Instructor School to anybody wanting the best.

I was recommended to PFIS by another instructor and I can certainly see why. A variety of experiences were offered and a wealth of knowledge imparted over the duration of the course. Even if one of the instructors couldn't provide the answer, it could be found within the well stocked library. Every attempt was made to keep my expenditure to a minimum, such as sharing costs with other students whenever possible. Dorothy and Bob work you hard so you can test easy, and I found this to be true as I was well prepared for my skill test. But even with all of that going on, there's always time for a laugh and a biscuit.

Pooley’s Flying Instructors School provides a natural friendly atmosphere that comes together with a very high level of professionalism from their highly experienced instructors.

They provided fantastic aircraft and a training classroom with all the possible imaginable documents, books and teaching aids necessary for flying instruction.

Apart from their vast flying experience, the instructor’s different backgrounds covered other important aspects related to becoming a flying instructor.

I finished the course with a much deeper knowledge and understanding on Air Law thanks to Dorothy’s background and experience on this area.

Bob’s background on business gave me some very interesting hints in dealing with my potential students and making sure that they will want to come back for another lesson!

Together, Dorothy and Bob pushed and taught me to the highest standard I’ve ever experienced since I became a pilot. The very high standard achieved during the course made me feel extremely confident and relaxed when I went for my FI skill test.

Thank you Bob and Dorothy!

I attended Pooleys FI course through the summer and from the very beginning high standards were demanded and set. Dorothy has a well deserved reputation within the flying community and the school reflects that.  Lectures were well prepared, relevant and interesting.  The content of the flying instruction clearly pointed out the important areas for teaching ab initio PPL.

I have many years experience in aviation both within and outside the training environment initially flying fast jets in the RAF and latterly as an airline captain with British Airways. Suffice to say that this course was one of the best.

My instructor was excellent and a very good pilot himself. He was knowledgeable, helpful and a pleasure to fly with while being very strict on the standards he expected. The course has given me the confidence to fly and teach wherever I am in the world.

Lottie Skeen, aka 'Guine', student at P.F.I.S. 2008

I thoroughly enjoyed my FIC. We had a fun working environment and it taught me a lot about the real intricate details of flying and teaching skills. The course is taught to a high standard so you felt prepared for when you came to test, and I wouldn't have got the result I wanted otherwise.  It is hard work but if you put the work in, the more you will benefit from it.

On a personal level it's hugely improved my self confidence and I've gained skills enabling me to manage situations which will benefit me further in my career.

Dorothy has been a mentor for me and I couldn't recommend the course more highly on a professional and personal level.

My name is Simon Canacott and I am an unrestricted Flying Instructor.  I have worked for FTO’s and RF’s at Biggin Hill, Shoreham and Redhill.

I completed the FI(R)A course at Pooleys Flying Instructor School in December 2008 having only been accepted onto the course in November 2008.  This also included additional training in order to remove the night restriction.   Completing the course in just one month was due greatly to Dorothy’s encouragement, enthusiasm, professionalism and hard work (not to mention some hard work on my part!).

The school’s environment was well equipped and extremely conducive to learning.   The course was flexible and tailored around me and the other students.  At all times students were encouraged to work to their strengths.  I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to become a flying instructor.

Feel free to contact me to discuss any nature of the course from a previous student’s point of view.  My full contact details can be found on my website: www.simoncanacott.co.uk.

After leaving the RAF as an established A2 Qualified Flying Instructor, I came to Pooley's to enhance my JAR licence.

Not only did the School offer relaxed and professional instructor coaching, but also provided invaluable advice on the complexities of LASORS.

I would recommend Pooley's Flying Instructor School to anyone looking to develop or enhance their aviation teaching qualifications.

Richard Hemsley, student at P.F.I.S.

After working in ATC Ops for over 11 years and I was looking to change career direction and to go back to flight instruction as a full time instructor. At the time of making this decision I possessed an FAA CFII rating (certified flying instructor with instruments) and was looking for a suitable training school to convert the FAA instructor rating to an instructor rating on my JAR Commercial licence.

As luck would have it, I was lucky enough to be pointed in the direction of Dorothy Pooley at Pooleys Flying Instructor School where I quickly acquired a Flight Instructors rating and subsequently followed up on this course with additional training to remove the restriction of applied instruments and add Multi-engine Piston (MEP) to my instructor licence.

The training I received was to a very high standard and is recognised as such within UK and European flight schools so have no hesitation recommending Dorothy Pooley and her PFI school to anyone wish to acquire or convert a flying instructors rating.
