The course of training for the IRI Instructor rating comprises:-
A minimum of 10 hours flight training on instruments in an aeroplane or approved flight simulator and a minimum of 25 hours theoretical training with an FIC instructor.
Before being permitted to begin an approved course of training for an IRI instructor rating, an applicant must:-
Hold a valid single pilot, Instrument Rating (IR)
200 hours flight time by sole reference to instruments or 800 hours flight time in accordance with instrument flight rules (IFR) 1 hour of flight time by sole reference to instruments may be counted as 4 hours flight by IFR.
At the end of the course a skill test covering theory and a flight will be taken with a Flight Instructor Examiner (FIE). This will normally be carried out at Shoreham. Additionally PFIS will provide the candidate with an end of course certificate.
